Rockem Experience
Held Every July
The Rockem’ Experience is an action-packed, fun-filled summer camp designed to empower youth by helping them discover who they are and what they’re capable of becoming. Through the game of basketball, campers develop essential life-long skills including communication, teamwork, listening comprehension, leadership, discipline, and social awareness. Basketball serves as the vehicle — but the lessons extend far beyond the court. Participants learn that success is built through a balance of focus, consistency, effort, and joy. They are challenged to work hard, support one another, and take pride in growth — not just performance. The mission of the DJ Rowell Foundation team is to create an environment where physical activity is engaging and meaningful, while instilling values that shape confidence, character, and purpose. Our goal is for each camper to leave with a stronger sense of identity, a belief in their potential, and the tools to show up as the best version of themselves — on the court, in the classroom, and in life.
Holiday Backpack Drive
Held Every December
The Holiday Backpack Drive is the DJ Rowell Foundation’s way of sending love — freely, intentionally, and without expectation — to children and families facing the most difficult moments of the year. Born during the COVID-19 pandemic, this initiative was created to bring comfort and encouragement to pediatric patients who were unable to return home for the holidays. In partnership with children’s hospitals and family care organizations, we deliver thoughtfully prepared backpacks filled with essentials, surprises, and holiday cheer to young fighters spending the season in care. Each backpack represents more than what’s inside. It carries a message of support, appreciation, and solidarity — a reminder that these children and their families are not alone, and that their strength inspires us just as much as we hope to uplift them. At its heart, the Holiday Backpack Drive is about sharing love during a season when it’s needed most. We hope this act of giving restores a sense of warmth and hope, while also inspiring others — individuals, families, and organizations — to extend kindness in their own way, to someone or something they care about, during a challenging time. Through this program, the DJ Rowell Foundation continues its commitment to spreading compassion, holiday cheer, and humanity — believing that even the smallest gesture can put hope back into the world.
